The Norbert A. Lange and Marion Cleaveland Lange - Trust of Sandusky Library

The Norbert A. and Marion Cleaveland Lange Trust of Sandusky Library was created by Dr. Lange in his Last Will and Testament. He died October 12, 1972. Mrs. Lange augmented the trust under the provisions of a Living Trust that she established on October 10, 1974, which was implemented at the time of her death, December 23, 1975.

In their own words as set forth in the Trust, the Library was to use the income from the Trust for "The promotion of cultural and educational enterprises in the City of Sandusky, Ohio, and the adjacent area within Erie County, Ohio. All such enterprises shall be open and free to, and for the cultural and educational benefit of the general public of said Erie County." The best evidence of the fact that this laudable objective has been fulfilled is the popularity of the many programs and activities presented under the auspices of the Trust during the past 25 years. The people of Sandusky and Erie County are now and will be eternally indebted to the Langes for their generosity and kindness.

Upcoming Lange Trust event:

THE ALISON BROWN QUARTET funded by The Lange Trust

will appear as guest artists with The Firelands Symphony Orchestra’s
Sunday, August 30, at 6:00 p.m.
BGSU Firelands Campus / McBride Arboretum
(Rain Venue: Sandusky State Theatre)

*NOTE:  Tickets are not required for this event.

Join the Firelands Symphony and GRAMMY award-winning banjo virtuoso Alison Brown and her quartet for a free concert at McBride Arboretum/Erie MetroParks in Huron. The pops program features upbeat and entertaining selections to engage listeners of all ages.

Alison took an unusual path to becoming an internationally recognized banjoist. After completing her undergraduate studies at Harvard University and receiving an MBA from UCLA, she pursued a career in investment banking. But she missed the bluegrass music she’d grown up playing in Southern California so much that when Alison Krauss called looking for a banjo player, she made the decision to leave her Wall Street career to pursue music. She then toured with Alison Krauss and Union Station and Michelle Shocked before forming her own group, The Alison Brown Quartet, in 1993.

The quartet has toured throughout the US and abroad with stops at some of music’s most prestigious venues, including The Kennedy Center and numerous festivals. Alison has recorded ten critically acclaimed solo albums, received four GRAMMY nominations, and a GRAMMY award for Best Country Instrumental Performance.

TICKETS ARE NOT REQUIRED. Bring your chairs or blankets. You are welcome to bring food or beverages. No alcohol please.
